Sanctuary Point Community Pride awards top poster designers

At the 2022 Spring into Sanctuary Point fair, Firefly Bay and Basin awarded local Vincentia High school student Lani Kovalik her $200 prize for her poster design promoting the Spring into Sanctuary Point Fair.

In August this year, Sanctuary Point Community Pride and Firefly Bay and Basin ran a competition for local youths to design the Spring into Sanctuary Point Fair poster. The submission from Vincentia High School student Lani Kovalik (13) from Sanctuary Point was chosen by Sanctuary Point Community Pride members for this inaugural competition. On the day, Lani was publicly thanked for her beautiful design and was presented with a $200 gift card and certificate.

The competition had 15 entries from young people aged ranged from 11 – 15 years old. There were four prizes awarded:

Shania Fraser won the Highly Commended 10 to 13 years section, which included a $50 visa gift card and a Volcon cap for her spring flowers design. Emma McIntyre won the Highly Commended 14-18 years section, including a $50 visa gift card and a Volcon cap for her fluoro futuristic design.

On the day of the Spring into Sanctuary Point, Fair Jett Kingma won the People’s Choice Award and a $50 gift card for his design that used a photo of St Georges Basin.

The competition was a great success, and Sanctuary Point Community Pride intends to run a contest for young designers in the future.
