Reflections on the Last Few Months

Volunteers

Sanctuary Point Community Pride has had a busy few months. From gatherings to contributions, these moments highlight the power of community spirit.

Reflecting on our Seniors with Joy and Music

March began with our Seniors Week celebration. Local seniors enjoyed a lovely CWA-catered morning tea. SPCP member Bob Proudfoot served as the MC, creating a welcoming atmosphere with his engaging presence and trivia questions.

NukeM provided musical entertainment, delighting the crowd with their performance. Their music brought smiles and tapping feet all around, reminding us of the universal language of music.

Supporting Our Local Athletes

In another March highlight, we supported the Jervis Bay Netball Club with a $1,000 cheque, the proceeds from our 2023 Community Raffle. This donation shows our commitment to fostering local talent and encouraging active lifestyles.

The Jervis Bay Netball Club offers young athletes a platform to develop skills, make friendships, and learn teamwork. The funds will purchase new equipment and ensure the club continues to thrive.

Celebrating Our Wonderful Volunteers

Volunteers are the backbone of our community. In May, we gave our members tickets to the Bendigo Bank Gala Dinner to thank them for their hard work and support of our local bank. The event featured delicious food, great conversations, speeches, and live entertainment. Happy 20th Birthday, Bendigo Bank Sanctuary Point!

Exciting Developments in the Nexus Project

The Nexus Project is progressing well. This initiative aims to create a comprehensive map of our community’s assets. The asset mapping portion of this project has now been completed, capturing the resources and points of interest that make our community unique.

Our graphic designer is now drawing the map and adding the identified assets. This visual representation will be a valuable resource for residents and visitors, showcasing our community’s rich offerings.

Partnering with Bendigo Bank on a Bursary Program

We have been working on a bursary program in partnership with Bendigo Bank. This initiative provides financial assistance to deserving mature-aged students in our area, helping them pursue their educational goals.

This project is in its early stages and aims to ease the financial burden of education. We hope to empower these individuals to continue their studies and contribute positively to society.

Planning for the Spring into Sanctuary Point Fair

We are excited to announce the Spring into Sanctuary Point Fair, which will be held on October 19, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Francis Ryan Reserve. This event promises fun, community spirit, and activities for all ages.

Firefly will rerun the popular Poster Competition, encouraging creativity among our young community members. This competition showcases the incredible talent and imagination of our local youth.

Interested stallholders can apply for a stall at the fair. Click here to apply for a stall.

Looking Ahead

As we move forward, we are excited about the upcoming events and initiatives that will continue to strengthen our bonds and make a positive impact. The generosity and community involvement evident over the past months are a testament to the remarkable individuals who make up our community.

Let’s carry this momentum forward, supporting one another and celebrating the moments that bring us together. Here’s to many more gatherings, contributions, and achievements that highlight the beauty of our community.

Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you for being an integral part of our community journey!
